10 Words

While waiting at the doctor's office, today, I saw a poster on the wall in the waiting room. It was title, "Is your child on track?" and it listed various language, physical, cognitive developments a child should hit at certain ages. For Katy's age (I looked at the two year old section), it said that she should consistently have ten words in her vocabulary. Ten words. Hmmm... I wonder what it means when your child has HUNDREDS of words in her vocabulary, puts simple sentences together and parrots back almost every other word you say out loud and she's not yet two?
