Jalie Sewing Patterns- Nordik Slippers and Flair Face Masks and Accessories

Posted by Heather at Tuesday, December 01, 2020 0 comments

It's still 2020.... and it's already December (which means that Christmas is right around the corner)...

SOOOOOooooo...... that means that everyone on my gift list is getting the newly released Jalie Sewing PatternsFlair Face Masks and Accessories! This complete (and timely!) PDF sewing pattern includes four different styles of three layer masks, a double pocket carrying case and an ear-saver headband. I enjoyed sewing up three of the four different views of masks and several carrying cases and headbands. The instructions are thorough (I would expect nothing less from Jalie Sewing Patterns ;) and result in a quality end product (aka, the perfect 2020 Christmas gift! ;). I cannot wait to sew up more Flair masks!

Also, Jalie Sewing Patterns just released the Nordik Slippers! I love these cozy slippers in fleece and cotton. 18 sizes are included in the pattern, along with pattern pieces for a carrying case. The Jalie Sewing PatternsNordik Slippers would also make a great Christmas gift for everyone on your list!

I sewed up some Jalie Sewing PatternsNordik Slippers for myself in cheetah fleece....

...and I sewed up some Jalie Sewing PatternsNordik Slippers for Miss Tween in fleece and cotton.

Always a pleasure sewing up Jalie Sewing Patterns and the new Flair Face Masks and Accessories and Nordik Slippers are no exception! Sew much fun!

Sly Fox Fabrics Smitten DBP featuring the Love Notions Sewing Patterns Sloane Sweater

Sly Fox Fabrics is back, headquartered closer to me geographically (hello, GA from your neighboring state, NC!) and under new ownership! Yay! We're having fun sewing up one of the newest fabrics from Sly Fox Fabrics, Smitten! Smitten is a double brushed poly in lovely autumn colors and it will be revealed this coming week/available after 9/5/20.

Since school is starting out virtually for my Miss Tween, it's all about tops when it comes to Back to School wear ("class" is only from the chest up- ha!). So (or, should I say, "sew"? ;), I chose to sew up the Love Notions Sewing Patterns Sloane Sweater pattern- view B with optional hood and thumb hole hack. Sly Fox Fabrics Smitten DBP is the perfect base for the Love Notions Sewing Patterns Sloane Sweater pattern- cozy enough for fall but not too hot for NC cooler  temps.

Jalie Sewing Patterns Spring 2020 Collection

Posted by Heather at Saturday, May 09, 2020 0 comments
Jalie Sewing Patterns Spring 2020 Collection is here and it's full of wonderful patterns for the WHOLE FAMILY! I LOVE Jalie Sewing Patterns for many reasons; the wide size range- 28 sizes included in most patterns, the impeccable, professional drafting and the on-trend styling are just a few reasons to jump right into sewing Jalie Sewing Patterns!

In no particular order, here are my makes from the Jalie Sewing Patterns Spring 2020 Collection:

Hubs is a runner and he always needs a small space to stash his phone, key and maybe a quick pick-me-up while running. The Jalie 4023- Stella Running Belt was a simple 15 minute sew that can be easily customized to fit whatever you need to make the run go smoother. I would also consider using the Jalie 4023- Stella Running Belt to wear while traveling, under clothing. Fun, Hawaiian print nylon spandex fabric is from The Fabric Fairy

Next up, Jalie 4014- Coco Sports Bra! I love when a pattern can be worn multiple ways and the Jalie 4014- Coco Sports Bra is a fun, functional pattern that can be worn on both sides. This is a great pattern for all ages- training bra to those that need support. Missy insisted is use fun fabric for BOTH sides! ;) Said fun fabric is cotton lycra from The Purpleseamstress Fabrics.

For myself, I sewed up the Jalie 4015- Elle Reversible Top. Like I mentioned above, I love when a pattern can be worn multiple ways- the Jalie 4015- Elle Reversible Top can be worn with the criss-cross in the front OR the back! It's such a nice, flattering design element that I know will get lots of wear. I've had this sweater knit fabric in my personal fabric stash for YEARS but I believe I purchased it online from So Sew English Fabrics.

Last, but not least, it wouldn't be Jalie Sewing Patterns if I didn't sew up a swimsuit (or, in this case, TWO) from their latest collection. ;) Time after time I turn to Jalie Sewing Patterns to sew swim for my part-fish-part-mermaid daughter- the fit, the cut, the drafting are all 100%!

The Jalie 4021- Camille Cami Leotard feature shoulder straps and an optional shelf bra. This suit would be great for a competitive swimmer's practice suit. Quick and straightforward suit! Fabric has been in my stash for AGES (I believe I purchased it from The Purpleseamstress Fabrics).

Last summer, I purchased a ready-to-wear suit from Target for Missy. It had long sleeves and a zip-up front. She LOVED that suit and I desperately searched (to no avail) for a suitable pattern to recreate the look. Enter in the Jalie 4013- Zoe Long-Sleeve Front-Zip Swimsuit and Ta-da!! Sleeves, zip-up front, full coverage, flattering lines- THE.PERFECT.SUIT!! Swimsuit fabric was purchased online from The Fabric Fairy.

So, there you have it! Some fun, functional makes for all season and all reasons!! Thank you, Jalie Sewing Patterns, for a really great product and the perfect Spring 2020 Collection!

Sponsored Post- The Fabric Fairy Swim fabric featuring Jalie Diane (3893) Tank Swimsuit

Posted by Heather at Friday, January 31, 2020 0 comments

Happy January 2020! New Year, new start, new RESOLUTIONS! However, this post isn't about New Year's resolutions- rather, it's about a goal that my almost 10 (I can hardly believe that she'll be TEN in less than a month...!!) set at the beginning of her swim season...

Back in September 2019, with a full year of competition swimming under her belt, Missy was asked by her fourth grade teacher to make some goals for herself in the new school year. One of her goals was to make a "BB time" (a certain qualifying time that allows her to swim in age group sectionals for her region). Her two best strokes are the backstroke and butterfly. She had six chances in six meets to make it happen... and she did!! She made her qualifying "BB time" in her third meet (and very first away meet!) in 50y backstroke!! Woohoo!! I couldn't be prouder of her hard work, dedication, and practice! She definitely has a sense of athleticism that she clearly didn't inherit from me!

Now, because Missy swims year-round and because she is literally in the pool three to four days a week, it should go without saying that she goes through A LOT of swimsuits! A LOT! While I cannot sew her competition suits (those are strictly regulated- that's a good thing!), I do enjoy sewing her practice suits- it's her chance to show off her individual personality in a pool full of mermaids and sharks. ;)

As my sewing has evolved and Missy has matured, I find that having her personally select fabrics makes the whole process more enjoyable for all. Missy's current favorite colors are teal and purple. So, when she laid eyes on The Fabric Fairy New World Nylon Spandex Swimsuit fabric, it was LOVE at first sight! It's just perfect and eye-popping on the Jalie (3893) Diane Tank Suit (my go-to swimsuit pattern- the pattern comes together easily, is a great pattern to mix and match fabrics and is stays in place during practice)! I coordinated it with the White Pindots on Laribe Nylon Spandex Swimsuit fabric, also from The Fabric Fairy. I fully lined the suit in swimsuit lining also from The Fabric Fairy Now, she's ready for the pool in her mama-made!
