Muffin Tin Monday- Name Game

Posted by Heather at Monday, July 01, 2013 0 comments

Turkey and Cheese Letters, Tortilla Stars and Grapes for Lunch!

We've been actively working on learning and recognizing our letters, this summer. So I thought I'd make a fun lunch for Katy, today, using some ABC cookie cutters. Of course, this little sampling wasn't near enough to tide over our hungry Lil' Miss, so she had more (uncut) cheese and turkey on the side :-).

Nothing too fancy for today's lunch. Just good ol' kid food :-)

Muffin Tin Monday- Sunbutter and Jelly

Posted by Heather at Monday, March 18, 2013 0 comments

(Starting in the upper left tin, circling around clockwise)
Mandarin Orange, Pretzel Sticks, Juice Box, Sunbutter and Jelly Sandwich

We did a straight up muffin tin, this week. We had just gotten back from vacation, so it was quick and simple. Lacking dairy and veg, but enjoyed nonetheless.

Muffin Tin Monday- Steak 'Um

Posted by Heather at Monday, March 04, 2013 0 comments

Carrot Sticks, Green Grapes, Chocolate Covered Pretzels, Veggie Sticks, Steak with BBQ Sauce

This lunch is fit for a queen... Queen Katy, that is! Our little carnivore LOVES steak and she LOVES chocolate. Of course, Mommy added the other items to round out the meal... at least I can feel good about packing her a balanced meal... even if she doesn't eat it all. :-)

Muffin Tin Mondays- Lunch Bunch Lunch

Posted by Heather at Monday, January 28, 2013 0 comments

Pepperoni, Babybel Cheese Wheels, Capri Sun SuperV, Veggie Straws and Cantaloupe

Here's another Lunch Bunch Lunch for Lil' Miss. As I've said in the past, she seems to do better with things to nibble upon, rather than eating a sandwich, or one big main course. So, we stick with what we know :-)

Muffin Tin Monday- Frosty the Snowman

Posted by Heather at Monday, January 14, 2013 0 comments

Capri Sun SuperV (gotta get some extra veg in there, somehow! ;-), Pretzels, Turkey and Cheese Snowman Sandwich rounds with Fruit Leather scarf, Carrot nose and Chocolate Chip eyes and buttons, Blueberries and Carrot Sticks.

Have you missed MTM, here on All Things Katy!? Me, too. I really like coming up with creative lunches for my daughter.

Since Lil' Miss switched Preschools back in November and doesn't eat lunch at her new school, we haven't been as regular with our MTM, as of late. However, her new school does offers a program called, "Lunch Bunch" where the kids can stay an extra hour on Mondays, Wednesdays or both to eat lunch. We've decided to give it a go for the month of January.

Because of Katy's love of snowman, I figured a snowman lunch would be the perfect place to start for a wintery meal. Our snowman is missing a hat because I couldn't fit it all in the container and wasn't sure what to make the hat out of... next time, next time... Enjoy!

(Starting i the upper left and circling around clockwise)
Green Grapes, Babybel Cheese Wheel, Apple/Carrot/Lettuce/Orange/Celery Juice, Roast Beef, Onions and Turkey.

I'm a little late in the day in posting this one, but today's MTM is a little bit of this and a little bit of that. However, it was gobbled up, nonetheless!

Muffin Tin Monday- Catch Up

Posted by Heather at Monday, December 10, 2012 0 comments

Steamed Chicken, Broccoli, Chocolate Chip Cookies (w/o eggs, of course!), Spelt Pretzels and Mandarin Oranges.

Have you wondered what happened to MTM? Well, I haven't forgotten about it and I don't necessarily intend to stop doing MTM. However, with the holidays and traveling, we haven't necessarily been home enough to actually do a MTM. Plus, now that Lil' Miss has switched Preschools and no longer eats lunch at school, we haven't been doing as many packed lunches, as well.

So, without further ado, here is a past MTM!

We originally packed this to go with us when we went tree picking with some friends, a couple of weeks ago. Alas, I forgot it at home and Lil' Miss enjoyed it the next day. Oh well!

Muffin Tin Monday- Sandwich

Posted by Heather at Monday, November 19, 2012 0 comments

Red Grapes, Carrot Sticks, S'more Bar, Cheese Wheels, Veggie Straws and Roast Beef, Cheddar, Onion and Spinach Wrap.

I'm taking a bit of a risk with this lunch. Lil' Miss typically does better with lunches where she can "graze" her way through the meal, rather than have one big sandwich to eat. However, she had half of her sandwich left over from Whole Foods (love that place!), so I thought I'd take the chance. We'll see!

Muffin Tin Monday- Little Bites

Posted by Heather at Monday, November 12, 2012 0 comments

Green Grapes, Cheese Wheels, Oyster Crackers, Pumpkin Muffin, Carrot Sticks and Pepperoni.

This little MTM is made up of a little of this and a little of that. Katy prefers to "nibble" her way through a meal, so this is just perfect for her!

Muffin Tin Monday- Pretzel Dogs

Posted by Heather at Monday, November 05, 2012 0 comments

Green Grapes, Pretzel Dogs, Ants on a Log and Babybel Cheese Wheels

Lil' Miss is a good eater, but two of her favorite foods in the whole wide world (behind onions and steak- crazy, I know!), are pretzels and hot dogs. Put them together in a Pretzel Dog and Katy is in seventh heaven!  In the frozen section of the grocery store, I can find these mini pretzel dogs that Katy loves. So, I decided to change things up in her Preschool lunch and pack her a couple for lunch. I really should have taken an "after" picture of this lunch because literally, the only thing left was a stick and a half of celery (with the raisins eaten off of them!). I believe it's safe to assume that Lil' Miss loved her Pretzel Dog lunch!

Muffin Tin Monday- Fall

Posted by Heather at Monday, October 29, 2012 0 comments

Pretzel Crackers, Carrot Sticks (If I keep putting them in her lunch, one of these days, girly will eat them.... right?!), Applesauce, "FALL" Chocolate Cookies, Veggie Straws and Turkey and Cheese roll-ups.

It's another week of fall fun at Preschool, this week, so I did another "fall" themed lunch for Lil' Miss. I hope she eats more of this one than she did the other one! Last time, she came home with most of her lunch untouched. She later finished it, but I think she sometimes gets distracted at Preschool and doesn't want to focus on eating her own lunch.

Muffin Tin Monday- Fall Fun

Posted by Heather at Monday, October 22, 2012 0 comments

Pumpkin Bread cut into leaf shapes, Roast Beef with a leaf-shaped Cheese garnish, Ants on a Log, Raisins, Veggie Straws, Apple with Sunbutter.

Fall has arrived in the Carolinas! Cooler temps and colorful, falling leaves! Time for a Lil' Miss lunch that reflects the changing seasons. :-)

Muffin Tin Monday- Chicken Nuggets

Posted by Heather at Monday, October 15, 2012 0 comments

Red Grapes, Carrots, Cheese Rice Cakes, Babybel Cheese Wheels, Ian's All Natural Chicken Nuggets

So, I was shopping at Target a couple of weeks ago and I stumbled upon Ian's All Natural Chicken Nuggets. When I saw the words, "Wheat Free, Gluten Free, Milk Free, Casein Free, Egg Free, Peanut Free, Tree Nut Free and Soy Free" on the front of the packaging, I immediately stuck a box in my cart for my egg/nut/soy allergic daughter. Yes, please!

The real test, though, was will Lil' Miss eat these free-of-everything (and possibly free of taste?!) nuggets...? When I opened up her lunchbox after school I was sad to see that only one nugget was eaten. On the walk home from school, I decided to put two more nuggets in her stroller tray to see she'd eat some more- she ate them. However, add BBQ sauce and she gobbled them right up!

I later tried a nugget and I've got to admit- it's no Chick-Fil-A...

Muffin Tin Monday- A True MTM

Posted by Heather at Monday, October 08, 2012 0 comments

(Starting in the upper left, circling around clockwise) Skim Milk (with bendable straw, of course!), Mixed Fruit, Red Grapes, Honey Grahams (Yay for Whole Foods for carrying a brand that Katy can enjoy!), Turkey and Provolone Cheese Pinwheels, Cheesy Pretzel Bites.

It's been awhile since we've done a true MTM. With Preschool, it's kind of hard to do a MTM to go. So, this past weekend, I put together this little meal to entertain Katy while I did a little decorating for the fall season. She managed to eat all of the turkey rolls, graham crackers, milk and grapes.

Muffin Tin Monday- Roar Like A Lion!

Posted by Heather at Monday, October 01, 2012 0 comments

(Top) American and Provolone Sandwich Lion, Turkey and Provolone Sandwich Lion, Grammy Sammy with Cream Cheese Lion, Purple Grapes
(Bottom) Newman's Own Organic Alphabet Cookies, Red Cherry Tomatoes and Veggie Straws

It's "zoo week" at Preschool, this week. So, I made a lion lunch that ended up spanning two containers (oops!).

Muffin Tin Monday- Coming up Daisies

Posted by Heather at Monday, September 24, 2012 0 comments

Flower-shaped pancakes, Flower-shaped ham and cheese, Enjoy Life Cocoa Loco bar (free of all major allergens- yay!), Carrot Sticks, Veggie Sticks, Flower-shaped Watermelon (by Lil' Miss' request) and Blueberries.

Here's a Preschool lunch I did for Lil' Miss. As I'm getting into the groove of packing her lunches three times a week, I'm learning what works and what doesn't. For example, she does better with bite-sized "nibbles," rather than a sandwich or one main entree. Also, having just one container to open is way easier on the teachers than sending Katy to school with multiple containers for her lunch (hence, the current obsession with bento boxes).

Some of my concerns about Katy eating lunch at Preschool were:
a) Katy would get distracted by the other kids and everything going on that she'd forget to eat her own lunch and most of her lunch would come home with her.
b) There wouldn't be enough TIME for Katy to eat her lunch. She tends to "graze" her way through a meal.
c) Katy would "learn" to dislike certain foods just because her other, pickier classmates aren't as adventurous an eater as Katy.
d) Most importantly, she'd get curious about other kids' food and try to "trade" for something she can't eat (think, "I'll trade you my fruit for your PB&J sandwich." Eeek!).

Only time will tell if these come to fruition....

Back to the pictured lunch.... Cookie cutters sure make things cuter and more fun to eat, don't you think? I try to include in every lunch; a grain, fruit, veggie (that's sometimes iffy with my veg-a-phobe daughter), dairy, protein and a "treat." She doesn't always eat everything but so far, she *typically* eats most of her lunch and at least *tries* the included vegetable. That's a-okay in my book!

Muffin Tin Monday- "A" is for Apple

Posted by Heather at Monday, September 17, 2012 0 comments

Salt and Pepper Potato Sticks, Ham Flower, Carrots, Apple-shaped Cucumber slices, Apple Sauce, Apple-shaped mini Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, Apple Slices.

It's apple week at Preschool! So, I created an apple-licious meal in an apple-shaped container for Lil' Miss. She cried when I dropped her off, today, so hopefully this lunch will make her smile!

Muffin Tin Monday- Another Preschool Lunch

Posted by Heather at Monday, September 17, 2012 0 comments

Red Grapes, Celery Sticks, Westminster Squares, Cranberries, Veggie Sticks, Turkey Rolls and American Cheese Hearts

Mondays are preschool days around our house! So, I packed this tasty lunch for Lil' Miss to enjoy at school. I stuck in some fun Mickey and Minnie stickers to make it more interesting (what two-year old doesn't like stickers?!).
