"A is for Apple."

A new year, a new year of Lunch Bunch!

This year, the focus is letters. First up to bat, the letter A! So, for this past week's lunch, I did an "A is for Apple" themed lunch. Apple shaped cheese, turkey spirals, applesauce and crackers rounded out the lunch. I'm happy to report that Lil' Miss ate everything but the fruit roll-up letters!

Bento Box- M-I-C-K-E-Y

Cinnamon Kettle Corn mixed with Craisins, Saltines ("Saltinias" as Katy refers to them), Mickey Mouse Cheese slices and Strawberries.

Three Cheers for Mickey! Today's lunch ended up being consumed at home. Lil' Miss wasn't feeling well, last week, so she didn't end up going to Lunch Bunch. Oh well! She enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Here's the latest Lunch Bunch lunch... I'm happy to report that Lil' Miss ate most of this lunch- even the carrot sticks!

First Lunch Bunch of the New Year!

Last week's Lunch Bunch (1/8/14) was canceled due to cold weather (only in the Carolinas! My family in the Northeast laugh!).

Bento Box- Little Bites

Carrots, Celery and Cucumbers with blue Cheese Dressing, Cheese Wheels, Saltines, Prosciutto and Tangerine.

Today's bento box is a little bit of everything. Last week, we were still working on Thanksgiving leftovers and we were getting a little bored with turkey, turkey, turkey. So, I decided to do prosciutto and cheese for Lil' Miss' lunch. Needless to say, my carnivore daughter loved it (not so much on the veggies, though).

Bento Box- Goldfish and Pinwheels

Nothing fancy, this week- just good ol' Goldfish and Turkey and Cheese Pinwheels. Sad to report that Lil' Missy didn't eat much of it at school. However, once we got home, she was starving and managed to eat a good bit of it. Guess she was too distracted to eat while in the company of friends.

Bento Box- Boo!

Since Halloween fell on a Thursday, this year, Katy's class had their Halloween celebration on the Wednesday before. So, I made Lil' Miss a fun "Halloween" themed lunch to go along with the festivities. I'm sure there will be lots of sweet treats during the day, so who knows if she'll want to actually EAT her lunch...!

Lunch Bunch was cancelled, last week. So, instead of eating at school, we walked to Memorial Gardens for a picnic. Or, as she calls it, we dined, "al fresco."

This week's Lunch Bunch Meal was pretty simple. I jazzed up the sandwich, though, by rolling it up like "sushi." Happy Eats, Lil' Miss!

*I'm happy to report Lil' Miss ate most of the meal, only leaving a stray grape and some Pirate Booty behind. I guess she liked it!

Bento Box- Happy Fall, Y'all!

It's the end of September and fall is officially here! While the weather can't seem to make up it's mind (hot, cool, hot...!), we're ready for cooler temps, falling leaves and pumpkin everything!

Bento Box- Pencil It In

Chocolate Alphabet Letter Cookies, Veggie Sticks, Salami, Cheese "Pencil" Sandwich, Carrot Sticks and Red Grapes.

Katy's second Lunch Bunch meal contained a salami (Have you ever tried the Applegate brand of deli meats and cheeses? They are uncured and nitrate-free. Plus, they taste good, too!) and cheese "pencil" sandwich. Not pictured is the blue cheese dressing (yes, really, she likes blue cheese!) to dip her carrots in and her juice box. Maybe I should alternately title this lunch, "Smelly Lunch" with the blue cheese and salami. Ha!

Bento Box- First Lunch Bunch of the 2013 School Year

Trail Mix (Pretzels, Craisins, Sunflower Seeds and Fruit Loops "worm"), Peanut Butter Sandwich on Muesli Morning Round and "A, B, C" Cheese Letters and Red Grapes.

Last Wednesday was the first Lunch Bunch of school year for Lil' Miss. Originally, I wasn't going to have her start going to Lunch Bunch until October, at the earliest. However, when she overheard the Preschool Director asking the mothers who was staying for Lunch Bunch, Katy was ALL IN! She had a great time and when she got into the car, afterwards, she told me, "I had the most best time at Lunch Bunch!" 

Now, that statement makes me happy, knowing that she's enjoying herself at school!

Bento Box- PB&J

Now that Lil' Miss can eat peanut butter and we reintroduced it into her diet, she wants it All.The.Time. So, when I asked her what she wanted packed for Lunch Bunch, last week, of course she asked for a PB&J sandwich. I did her one better, though, and gave her fun butterfly-shaped sandwiches. We had some leftover popcorn from an afternoon snack and we threw in some sliced apples and squeezy yogurt to round out the meal. I'm happy to report that most of this meal was actually consumed AT Lunch Bunch. :-)

Today's lunch is compliments of Lil' Miss. She chose everything that went into the lunch and then proceeded to eat very little of it at Lunch Bunch. She did, however, go on to eat almost everything at a later sitting (I think she just gets distracted at school with all the other kids and activities going on). Oh well, at least I'm told she was well behaved and didn't cry or fuss. That's a win in my book!

It's April and it's a new month at Preschool, for Lil' Miss! (Their spring break was the first week of April) Katy is participating in Wednesday Lunch Bunch, this month. She ate about half of it while at school and then we sat on the playground after I picked her up (beautiful, warm NC weather!) and she finished up the rest (minus the cereal bar).

At Katy's request, today's lunch does not include dairy. According to Lil' Miss, the cheese wheels that I keep including (and she keeps eating) in her lunches make her tummy hurt. Now, I know for sure that she isn't allergic to dairy (heaven knows that we've been down that road, before!). I might consider a lactose intolerance (being Asian, and all), if it weren't for the fact that I saw the girl down a whole glass of milk and bowl of ice cream, yesterday...

We did something a little different for Katy's Lunch Bunch lunch, today. We did a bento instead of using her pink NUK lunch container (which, I love!). Apparently,  the lunch didn't have enough "cute" factor because Lil' Miss kept telling her teachers that she, "wanted to go home." I guess she was having an off day.... ;-/

We had some leftover dinner rolls that made the perfect-sized sandwich for Lil' Miss. Add some fruit, crackers and a drink and she's set for Lunch Bunch, this week.
