Halloween 2016
Wonder Woman!
Lil' Miss decided that she wanted to dress up as Wonder Woman, this year! Not quite sure how she settled on this costume as she's never really seen the cartoons/comics. No worries, though, this was an easy costume for me to sew up because I had the perfect PDF sewing pattern to use- Made for Mermaids Everyday Princess, Jasmine (as Wonder Woman)!
We'll be trick-or-treating around our neighborhood, this evening. Katy's best bud and his family will be joining us in the festivities. Should be a nice night weather-wise, too! Now, the trick is, can we get the kiddos to bed at a reasonable hour because Halloween is on a SCHOOL NIGHT...?!! :-P
Edited to Add Pictures:
Our SUPER WONDERful little family!
It's a bird, it's a plane, no, it's SUPER DAD and WONDER KATY!

Chalk Drawings
This week is "Daddy Camp" for Lil' Miss. She's savoring these last few moments of summer vacay at home, with Ted and she's loving every moment! After an appointment on Tuesday, we broke out the sidewalk chalk and traced ourselves on the driveway.
Presenting.... the Jones Family... as Olympic-themed Chalk Drawings....!

Of course, Katy wanted to go out and play!
Twenty layers later and Lil' Miss was out running around, playing and eating ice with Daddy.

Welcome to "Arendelle!"- Frozen Birthday Party Scenes (#DisneySide @Home Celebrations 2015)
Here are some pictures from Katy's Frozen Birthday Party, this past weekend:
We showed our #DisneySide by dressing up for the event!
Katy was dressed in 200 yards of glitter tulle and a long, sparkly, snowflake cape. Daddy donned his Olaf costume for the occasion.
Lil' Miss was more than a little surprised to see "Elsa" and "Anna" at her party!
(At one point, she was so overcome with emotions that I thought she was going to cry happy tears!)
"Say, Frozen!"
Thank you, Enchanted Elegance for making our daughter's birthday party memorable!! These talented princesses were kind, elegant and punctual. They kept the complete attention of almost 20 children for a full hour! Now, that IS magical!!
"Happy 5th Birthday, Katy!"
Elsa and Anna helped sing "Happy Birthday!" to Katy.
Hugs for Elsa!
Happy 5th Birthday, Katy Grace!!!

Welcome to "Arendelle!"- Frozen Birthday Party House Tour (#DisneySide @Home Celebrations 2015)
Lil' Miss is the big FIVE, today!!
We definitely showed our #DisneySide @Home Celebrations by celebrating with a Frozen themed birthday party, this past weekend.
There were streamers, banners and balloons...
....Frosty trees and snowflakes...
...and don't forget Olaf!
We had Elsa Art Totes as favors and lots of crafts to entertain the guests.
We had tissue paper pom-poms, snowflake lanterns and a large "Happy 5th Birthday" banner adorn the living room/Kitchen.
There were 72 white balloons hanging from the living room ceiling. It looks "snowy" and "wintery."

Ted created a magical, Frozen scene for the mouldings above the fireplace. I hid the "black hole" that is the fireplace with crepe paper streamers (don't worry- we shut off the pilot and gas before decorating!). It created the perfect backdrop for pictures.
We used some of Katy's own toys to decorate and create the perfect Frozen setting.
Happy Frozen 5th Birthday, Katy Grace!!

Hook and Ladder (cont.)
Firewomen Katy to the rescue!
Every year, since Katy was born, we've taken the time to bake and deliver Christmas cookies to our local fire station. Even in the small ways, we want help teach Katy to have a thankful heart and a giving nature.
The first year we did this, we delivered cookies to the downtown Concord station. Now that we live in Harrisburg, we deliver the cookies to the Harrisburg Fire station. Some years, we end up having to leave the cookies at the door because nobody is home. Other years- like this year- the firemen are all present and more than happy to give a tour of the trucks and station. Lil' Miss enjoyed walking around the trucks but was too shy to actually climb into the cab. However, I was proud of her for personally handing the cookies to the captain and saying in a clear voice, "Thank you for helping us!"
We are so thankful for the emergency response teams throughout the community that help to keep us safe!!

Neighborhood End of Summer Pool Party
"Our neighborhood said goodbye to summer with an end of season pool party!"
"I swam and swam and swam....."
"I ate and ate and ate...."
(No joke, the girl practically ate her weight in food! Sandwiches, chips and umpteen many strawberries!)
"I bounced and bounced and bounced....
Goodbye summer, hello school!"

Master Gardener
"Katy, Katy, quite contrary,"
"How does your garden grow?"
"And pretty maids all in a row."
Garden harvest salad- Katy ate the whole salad!
Lil' Miss quite literally grew these green beans from seeds that she planted in a Preschool springtime activity. While I'm a self-proclaimed "black thumb," Katy, on the other hand, most definitely has a green one! What came home as a paper cup full of dirt back in April, has quite literally yielded a harvest of beans! With the help of Ted, Katy has meticulously cared for and watered these little sprouts throughout the summer. She was SOOO excited to finally be able to pick the matured vegetable, the other day.
On the day that she picked the first handful of beans, Katy insisted on eating a salad for lunch. She then proceeded to eat every bite of beans, homegrown tomatoes (and other salad goodies, such as spinach, croutons, cheese, basil and the always-present mound of onions! ;-). Pretty good for our seemingly veg-o-phobe! One sure-fire way to get your child to eat more veg? Get them involved and help them grow a garden!
Amazing!

Snowmageddon 2014
"Bring on the SNOW!!!"
"Another winter storm hit the Carolinas and we got at least six inches, as of 2/12/14, 6PM, with more on the way...!"
"No, this isn't a blurry picture.... it's just a lot of snowflakes falling!"
"Daddy built Olaf, from Frozen.... 'cute little baby unicorn'..."
"Snow angel time!"
"Catching snowflakes on my tongue!"
"Snowflake tasting with my Daddy." :-)

"Let It Go" (Snow Day in NC)
"The snow glows white on the mountain tonight
Not a footprint to be seen..."
"...The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside..."
"...Let it go, let it go..."
"...Let it go, let it go..."
"...Here I stand in the light of day..."
"...Let the storm rage on..."
"...The cold never bothered me anyway..."
(Lyrics from Katy's current favorite movie, Frozen)
The weatherman was right because yesterday, we got SNOW!About an inch, to be exact. So, today is a snow day from school and Lil' Miss had fun playing in the white fluffy stuff. It was cold and we were out early, but she had a blast! It's not every day that it snows in NC, after all....
