Bedtime Battles... An Ongoing Saga (and I do mean SAGA!)
Tonight, Ted was putting Katy to bed and their conversation went something like this:
Ted, "Katy- it's time to go to bed."
Katy, "I don't like to go to bed!"
Ted, "We do this every night. Please just lay there and close your eyes."
Katy, "I don't like to close my eyes!"
Ted, "Why don't you like to close your eyes, Katy?"
Katy, "Because it makes me go to sleep!!"
Well, at least that is the hope, Child, at least that is the hope....

Nuby Mommy Blogger- Pop-Up™ Sipper Cup
Today, we had a park playdate with some friends. With the hot temps and sunny skies, it was the perfect opportunity to try out the Nuby Pop-Up™ Sipper Cup while we were out playing. First off, I love the clip that comes with the cup- it was perfect to clipping to my belt while Lil' Miss was off playing. Later, Lil' Miss snagged it from off of my belt and attached it to her pocket so that she'd have her water readily available. The plastic lid is good in theory (to help keep the spout clean), but in use, it's kind of a pain to keep track and easily lost, when you take it off the cup. The 12 oz. size holds enough water for a morning of play.
Here is what the Nuby website had to say about the Nuby Pop-Up™ Sipper Cup, "he Nûby™ Pop-Up™ Cup features the easy pop up action sipper that is easy to use. The snap on cap will keep the sipper clean while on the go. Available with fun character prints and colors to make cup drinking more fun."
Would you like a Nuby Pop-Up™ Sipper Cup for yourself? You can purchase them at DD's or Meijer's.

A Rootin' Tootin' Good Time- Happy First Birthday, Luke!
Baptism Boy, Luke.
Birthday Boy, Luke!
*To view more party pictures, go HERE.
Katy and I took a quick trip up to Pittsburgh, this past Memorial Day Weekend, to help my nephew, Luke, celebrate his first birthday. In addition to celebrating his birthday, my father also did his baptism (cowboy wear, and all).
The birthday theme was "cowboy" and there was plenty of fun to go around! There was food! There was cake! There were presents! There were lots of themed decorations and games!
Happy First Birthday, Lukey! We love you!

Nuby Mommy Blogger- Bath Time Clock & Thermometer
The UPS delivery man was working late, tonight! Our latest box of goodies from Nuby arrived at our doorstep well past 7:00PM, tonight. Just in time for the bathtime/bedtime routine.
The first item we tried out (straight out of the box!) was the Nuby Bath Time Clock & Thermometer. While the main feature of this item is a thermometer (so that baby's bath water isn't too hot or too cold), I really wanted to try out the Nuby Bath Time Clock & Thermometer because of the timer feature. Lately, Lil' Miss has been rushing through brushing her teeth. Since you are supposed to brush your teeth for two minutes, each time, I thought using a timer might help Lil' Miss spend a little more time on keeping her pearly whites clean.
The thermometer feature worked right away. The timer was so simple to set- didn't even have to read the directions- just hit the "set" button" and then set the minutes and/or seconds. Easy Peazy. The alarm isn't too blaring loud, but it does the trick. Best part, Lil' Miss really spent a full two minutes brushing without me nagging her!
Here is what the Nuby website says about the Nuby Bath Time Clock & Thermometer:"A daily bath is essential to a baby's hygiene and relaxation. The Nûby™ Bath Time Clock & Thermometer can help keep bath time safe and fun. It's unique 3-in-1 design incorporates a clock, a timer that counts up or down, and a thermometer that displays in Celsius or Fahrenheit. Not only that, but the Bath Time Clock & Thermometer floats and will alert you if the water is too hot or too cold. It also automatically counts up when the sensor contacts the water so you know how long your baby has been in the bath!"
Would you like a Nuby Bath Time Clock & Thermometer for yourself? You can purchase them at Buy Baby Direct or Ideal Baby.

My, How Time Flies!
First Day of (Two Year Old) Preschool, Sept. 5, 2012
Last Day of (Two Year Old) Preschool, May 22, 2013
Our Lil' Miss isn't so little, anymore- she's growing up way too fast for our liking!
*For her last day of Preschool, this year, I took her first day of Preschool pillowcase dress and refashioned the bottom of it into another, bigger dress with a new bodice. Katy has definitely grown in height over the course of this past school year.

Last Day of (Two Year Old Class) Preschool- May 22, 2013
Thank you, Ms. Amber!
Thank you for filling in, Ms. Gwen!
Thank you, Ms. Diane!
Big Girl, Katy!
Well, we've made it!
After a rocky start at Forest Hill Methodist Preschool and a switch in schools to St. James Lutheran Preschool, WE survived Katy's first year! Today, was her last day before summer break and I'm happy to report that she was all smiles! Lil' Miss has come a long way since last September.
She now willingly and happily does hand/foot print art. She is a good listener at school (now, if only that could translate to home....) and is usually one of the first kids seated at circle time. Only once since she started attending SJP, did she get a bad report. She's a master at shapes and colors and is slowly getting more interested in letters/words and numbers. Her teachers, Ms. Amber, Ms. Diane and Ms. Gwen had nothing but good things to say about Katy!
Ted and I are grateful for the nurturing environment that Katy has found with her two year old teachers. Katy is still clingy at times and resistant to change, but she LOVED going to Preschool every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and was a willing participant at school. We are so thankful for a positive end to the school year. THANK YOU, Ms. Amber, Ms. Diane and Ms. Gwen!!

It's Greek To Me!- Greek Festival with the Keys Family 2013
Happy Girls!
Kabob Girl
We were front and center when the Greek Folk Dancing come on stage and once again, Katy really enjoyed the dancing and music (even if the music was a bit loud over the speakers).
We had fun! The only downer to the evening was Katy's tantrum when it was time to go because she didn't want to part ways with her buddy, Cecilia (She's already plotting their next adventure!). Opa!

Sentence of the Day- Animal Farm
We went to the Winston-Salem Greek Festival, yesterday, and our friends' daughter, Cecilia, was riding in the back with Katy. The girls were being silly and pretending to be various animals. They would take turns calling out whatever animal they were pretending to be (complete with animal sounds, of course ;-). Amongst the typical lions, bears and horses, all of the sudden Katy shouts out, "I'm an emu!!" Hahahahaha... where does she come up with these things?!?!

We've enjoyed visiting Patterson Farms and picking strawberries for the past four years. It's fun to return to a place annually and see how much Lil' Miss has grown!

Little Miss Strawberry Shortcake- Annual Trip to Patterson Farms
"Today, Mommy and I returned to Patterson Farms for our annual strawberry picking adventure. This was our fourth year going to the same farm to pick berries. This year, though, we met up with my friends Connor, Jackson and Macy (and their Mommies). Unlike the shivering temps of last year, this year it was hot, hot, HOT in the strawberry fields! We ended up with a basket full of berry-licious strawberries. ;-P"
"Rocking and Rolling with my buddy, Connor!"
"We had fun feeding the goats grass and dandelions."
"Berry Sweet! There were lots of ripe, red strawberries to pick!"
"Little Miss Strawberry Shortcake."

Gamer-In-Training
August 2010
May 11, 2013
Daddy's got a little gamer-in-the-making! Even from the very start, he's "introduced" Lil' Miss to the wonders of the XBox. (And, as Ted likes to point out, Katy's XBox Avatar has more points than mine does.)

Sentence of the Day- "Going to the Chapel..."
Conversation between Katy and I, this afternoon:
Katy, handing me a blanket and a tiara, "Honey, would you please put this on me? It's my veil."
Me, adjusting said blanket and fashioning it into a make-shift wedding "veil," "Oh, okay. Why do you need a veil?"
Katy, "Because I'm getting married."
Me, "Who's the lucky groom?"
Katy, "Daddy. I'm getting married to Daddy."

Perfect Day for the Park
While the West was sweltering and the East Coast was shivering (crazy Spring weather!), North Carolina weather was beautiful, today. The perfect day to go to our neighborhood playground (Have we mentioned how much we LOVE our new neighborhood?!?!?)
Katy swung like a monkey...
...ran like a banshee...
..."climbed every mountain"...
...and showed off her sassy side... ;-)

Cinderella Cover-Up
So, I saw this cute Cinderella cover-up on Etsy (via Pinterest) and I KNEW that Lil' Miss would love it (That girl LOVES her Disney Princesses- especially Cinderella!)!
And this is what I came up with....
It's not exactly the same...
...but I'm still pretty happy with the end results. :-)
Muffin Tin Monday- Hot Diggity Dog!
Strawberries, Pretzel Sticks, Babybel Cheese Wheel, Carrot Sticks and Chicken Hot Dogs with Cheese
Nothing too fancy for today's lunch. Just good ol' kid food :-)

Sentence of the Day- The Birds
We have a lot of birds that visit our yard. There is a bird bath that the owner left behind in the backyard and we've seen lots of little nests in the bushes around the house. While looking out into the yard the other eday, Katy started talking about what the birds eat (worms). This sparked a conversation about what all different kinds of birds eat- ducks, geese, chickens, roosters, penguins, etc. When I asked Katy what she though flamingos ate, she matter-of-factly replied, "Flamingos drink pink lemonade. That's how they get pink!" Love that little mind and her logic!

Dinner with the Milams
Last night, we had some friends over for dinner.
The adults enjoyed some sangria.
It was "Make Your Own Gourmet Hot Dog" night!
So many choices!
Plenty of food to go around!
Lil' Miss wanted her picture taken with the spread (of course :-).
We topped the night off with S'Mores around the fire.
Good food, good friends, a good night!

Harrisburg Movies in the Park- "Wreck-It Ralph"
"Last night was the first (of the 2013 season) Harrisburg Movies in the Park. Mommy, Daddy and I got there early."
"First, I did a little climbing at the playground..."
"Then, I did a little bouncing.... okay, okay, okay I did A LOT of bouncing!!"
(Look at that air!)
"Next, I did some slip-sliding down the inflatable slide..."
"Mommy and Daddy made me take a little break to eat some dinner."
"After dinner, though, I danced, danced, DANCED to the music playing over the speakers! Wheee- here I am spinning!"
"Fun family night!"
*Once the sun set and it finally got dark enough, we watched "Wreck-it Ralph" on the really BIG, inflatable screen. The movie didn't start until close to nine PM and we didn't leave the park until 10:30PM. Lil' Miss managed to stay awake and enthralled throughout the whole movie, though!
