Nice Doggie

Relaxing with Lilo

Yesterday, we spent the day with Uncle Rob and Aunt Julie. They had a nice cook-out birthday dinner for Daddy and we enjoyed catching up and relaxing. It had been too long since we had seen Rob and Julie and they were surprised to see how big you've grown, Katy!

The highlight of the trip for you, Katy, was their dog, Lilo. You LOVED Lilo! You would follow Lilo around the room with your eyes and you would giggle every time she got near. Lilo was very gentle with you and she let you rub her tummy and pull on her ears. What a good dog!

Cuddling with Leah Baty

"Thanks for the presents, Nana and Grandpa Jones! I especially like the play remote!"

Today, you are 28 weeks old, Katy. You express your personality more and more each day. We are getting to explore the world in a whole new way, by seeing it through your eyes.

The most important event that happened this week is the fact that I get to stay home with you, Katy, full-time. The teachers at King's Keep were sad to see you go, Katy. They said that they'll miss you and that (for the most part) you've been a very good girl in their care. I've resigned from my position at Shoe Show in order to be a full-time stay at home mom. While money may be tight, and I don't really get a whole lot done around the house, I know that we will not regret this decision for me to stay home! You sleep better in your own crib (for longer stretches!). Plus, Daddy commented on what a better mood you were in, yesterday, when he came home from work. I am so grateful for this opportunity to be able to stay home with you, Katy!

You are in discovery mode, now. You have figured out how to get from a laying down position to a sitting position, all on your own. You like to do this on a regular basis in your crib, on the floor, on the changing table. You have figured out how to take your bib off and I fear that taking off your clothes may be next to go. This morning, you figured out how to unlink the links that attach your toys to your exersaucer. You have a better understanding of how things work, and that certain actions have a reaction when it comes to your spinning, light-up toys.

Daddy and I could be a little biased, but we believe that you finally understand that "Dada" is a real, live person (your Daddy!), and not just the T.V., or your stuffed animal, or the wall, or your seat, etc. We even think we saw you put your hand to your forehead as if to sign "Dada." Now, to work on figuring out who "Mama" is....

Your taste buds are becoming more defined as you let us know what you do and don't like to eat. We never got around to introducing you to carrots, this week, as you let it be known that all you wanted to eat were sweet potatoes. However, this morning, you did manage to eat some homemade baby food squash mixed with sweet potatoes and yesterday, you ate yogurt with apple and sweet potato puree. Katy, you definitely seem to have a sweet tooth (maybe THAT'S why you like Cookie Monster so much?!??!)!

We've discovered that you LOVE the song, "I'm a Little Teapot." We do hand motions and everything to the song and your face just lights up. Of course, Daddy and I tend to get this song stuck in our heads and catch ourselves humming it when not in your company. This leads to strange looks from the people around us. Oh well!

Sitting Pretty (cont.)

Yesterday, while rolling around on the big bed, you rolled yourself to a sitting position, Katy! You did this all by yourself and you did it more than once. You had the biggest grin on your face after your sat up- you were so proud of your accomplishment. Up until this point, you could sit on your own, but we had to place you in a sitting position- you never went from back to sitting on your own.

Home with Mommy

Yesterday, September 1st, was your first day home with me, full-time. We had a good day. Katy, you didn't seem to want to take your naps, though. I think you were just too excited to have my undivided attention, all day :-P. Even though you didn't WANT to take your naps, you still took longer naps than when you were at daycare. You were a little clingy during the day, but otherwise, just happy to have me home with you.
