Bento Box- Pencil It In
Chocolate Alphabet Letter Cookies, Veggie Sticks, Salami, Cheese "Pencil" Sandwich, Carrot Sticks and Red Grapes.
Katy's second Lunch Bunch meal contained a salami (Have you ever tried the Applegate brand of deli meats and cheeses? They are uncured and nitrate-free. Plus, they taste good, too!) and cheese "pencil" sandwich. Not pictured is the blue cheese dressing (yes, really, she likes blue cheese!) to dip her carrots in and her juice box. Maybe I should alternately title this lunch, "Smelly Lunch" with the blue cheese and salami. Ha!

Bento Box- First Lunch Bunch of the 2013 School Year
Trail Mix (Pretzels, Craisins, Sunflower Seeds and Fruit Loops "worm"), Peanut Butter Sandwich on Muesli Morning Round and "A, B, C" Cheese Letters and Red Grapes.
Last Wednesday was the first Lunch Bunch of school year for Lil' Miss. Originally, I wasn't going to have her start going to Lunch Bunch until October, at the earliest. However, when she overheard the Preschool Director asking the mothers who was staying for Lunch Bunch, Katy was ALL IN! She had a great time and when she got into the car, afterwards, she told me, "I had the most best time at Lunch Bunch!"
Now, that statement makes me happy, knowing that she's enjoying herself at school!

Sentence of the Day- Delicate
Dumplings, eggrolls and sushi were on the menu for dinner, tonight. Helping set the table is part of Katy's duties. Ted went to hand her some silverware to set out, but instead Katy exclaimed, "No! I need the chopsticks! They are so beautiful and delicate!"

Never-ending Bedtime Battles... go on and on and on and on....
Ted is usually in charge of Katy's bedtime routine, each night. From the bath to the bedtime stories to "one last snuggle/kiss/glass of water," Ted's got it covered. The other night, however, we mixed things up (for various reasons) and I put Katy to bed.
Bad idea.
She just dragged out the bedtime routine. "Mommy! Don't leave me!" "Mommy, just one more story!" "Mommy, I need Gumble (stuffed animal)!" etc., etc., etc.... Finally, I gave her one last kiss, told her that I loved her and I walked out of the room. You would have thought I was deserting her!
After several minutes of moaning and crying, Ted went up to try his hand at getting Katy to sleep. After some last-minute requests, he finally gave her one last kiss, told her that he loved her and he walked out the room.
As he was closing the door, he heard her quietly say (in a hiccuping, weepy voice- most pathetic!), "Why doesn't anybody want to snuggle me?!?"
... And the Oscar for best dramatic portrayal goes to Lil' Miss Katy Grace!!

Sentence of the Day- Big Red
This afternoon, Katy suggested that we fly her kite from Grandma and Pop-Pop Tinkey. We told her that it was such a nice day outside but just not windy enough to fly a kite. Ted even went so far as to point out the trees and say, "See how the trees aren't moving? That means that there isn't any wind."
She responded in kind with, "Well, we could get the fan and plug it in and then it would be windy enough to fly a kite!"
Gotta admit that's some pretty good logic for a three year old.... ;-)

Nuby Mommy Blogger- Fun Feeding Section Plates
In our most recent box of Nuby goodies, we received the Nuby Fun Feeding Section Plate to try out. It comes in a pack of two and we received one pink and one purple plate. Just like many of the other Nuby feeding accessories, the Nuby Fun Feeding Section Plate are perfect for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Since the plates are plastic (BPA free, of course!), there is no fear of breakage. Also because the Nuby Fun Feeding Section Plate are plastic, they withstand the rough and tumble use of a child.
Lil' Miss loved the girlie colors that she received. The Nuby Fun Feeding Section Plate is sectioned into three different areas. It's a nice visual reminder for me, as a mom, to make sure Lil' Miss is eating a healthy, balanced meal/snack (don't mind the picture- she had just finished dinner and STILL wanted a snack). The Nuby Fun Feeding Section Plate are top-rack, dishwasher-safe.
If I were to pick something that I didn't like about the Nuby Fun Feeding Section Plate, it would be the fact that they don't stack very well when stored. Minor complaint, though.
Here is what the Nuby website has to say about the Nuby Fun Feeding Section Plate, "Nûby™ feeding accessories are made to withstand the challenges of daily use and retain their bright colors and resilience. This sectioned toddler plate is ideal for children who are beginning to feed themselves. It is suitable for warm or cold foods."

First Day of Preschool 2013
First Day of Preschool 2013
Today was Katy's first day of three-year old Preschool! She's back at St. James Lutheran for another year and she had a GREAT first day back! Katy is in the three year old class, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Ms. Kelly is her teacher.
When I dropped her off, this morning, she ran off to play with her friends and forgot to give me a parting kiss and hug. *sniff* Then, as I was buckling her into her seat after school, she informed me that she, "Had so much fun at school!" So, so, so thankful for a good, solid start to the school year!
**As a side note, this year's "Back to School" dress was a My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic creation by moi. I've decided that as long as she'll let me, I'll make her back to school wear reflect her current interests. Last year, I sewed Katy a dress using Fancy Nancy material. This year, Katy is crazy about My Little Ponies! This way, I'll always have a visual reminder of what Katy's interests were at any given year :-)

Sentence of the Day- Growing
Recently, we've been noticing that Katy is getting tall. Suddenly, her ballet shoes are too tight... her dresses a little too short... and when did she get to be taller than a yard stick?!
This morning, while getting ready for church, we noticed that yet another pair of shoes had gotten too small for her. Ted made the comment, "She's sprouting like a weed!"
To which, Katy retorted, "No, Daddy- I'm growing like a FLOWER!"
