Sewing Pattern Review- Vivie by BLAVERRY

Posted by Heather at Wednesday, March 09, 2016

I'm back again to review the Vivie by Blaverry PDF sewing pattern. This fun dress pattern only "looks" difficult to sew- it's really not! Just a little time and you've got a great "shirt dress."

The Vivie by Blaverry features, "...shirt style, contrast front button placket, collar and collar stand... optional pockets and bodice darts..."
Here are the basics of the Vivie by Blaverry PDF sewing pattern:
-The Vivie by Blaverry is sized for 2t-16. That's a nice, big size range! Also, because of the bodice darts and classic styling, this pattern is sure to appeal to a wide range of ages and body types.
-The Vivie by Blaverry is written for WOVEN cotton fabrics.
-The Vivie by Blaverry is a sleeveless dress pattern that hits mid-thigh.
-The Vivie by Blaverry includes pattern pieces for optional pockets.
-The Vivie by Blaverry features a contrast front button placket where either buttons or snaps can be used.
-The Vivie by Blaverry PDF sewing pattern includes shaded, step-by-step diagrams and instructions.
-The Vivie by Blaverry PDF sewing pattern includes a sizing chart and fabric cutting diagram. Measurements in the sizing and fabric chart are given in both imperial and metric.

I sewed up a size six Vivie by Blaverry. I did NOT sew in the pockets- much to my daughter's dismay. Also, I ended up using buttons for the front placket because I'm still not that great using my KAM snap press. I purchased the pink chevron on clearance from Hobby Lobby, last year. I received the green accent fabric when I went to my recent Stitchin' Savannah Sewing Retreat, last month. The green heart buttons were bought on clearance at Hancock Fabrics and the pink sparkly heart button was from my button stash.

The Vivie by Blaverry came together quickly. Honestly, the front button placket took me as much time as it took me to sew up the rest of the dress. The directions and diagrams are clear and easy to follow. I was a little hesitant when I read through the collar/collar stand part in the instructions, but once I sewed through it, it all made sense.

Vivie by Blaverry- Button Detail

I love classic the Vivie by Blaverry pattern is. The Vivie by Blaverry is one of those patterns that will be sure to stand the test of time- I won't be tired of it in a couple of years. The Vivie by Blaverry has good coverage- it wasn't too short on my 46" tall six year old and the arm holes weren't gaping. Also, I'd like to note that the collar wasn't too tight around the neck. I'm always concerned that button up garments are too tight and will feel constrictive on my daughter. That was not the case with the Vivie by Blaverry- it was just right!

Overall, the Vivie by Blaverry is another #win, in my book! Easy to sew, easy to wear!
